Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is looking for it’s next Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Apprentice, offering an exciting career opportunity for an aspiring tradesperson in the Gladstone region.
GAWB Chief Executive Officer Darren Barlow said the apprenticeship would help kick off a successful career in water for the right person.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to start a new career in a sector full of possibilities,” Mr Barlow said.
“Hiring committed recruits and fostering their career development ensures we always have the capacity to deliver safe and reliable water services to our customers and community.
“The successful applicant will gain the skills and qualifications needed to start a rewarding career while contributing to the region’s continued growth and economic prosperity.
“Whether you are a school leaver, mature-age job hunter or just looking for a career change, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for and importantly, you will be mentored and supported by our highly experienced and qualified team.
“Our ideal candidate has a keen interest in maths and science, holds personal safety as a core value and demonstrates a high level of motivation and commitment to completing their qualification.”
GAWB’s current Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Apprentice Morgen McGrath will complete his dual-trade apprenticeship in January 2025, after passing the notoriously difficult electrical capstone exams in June.
“Morgen set his sights on a trade qualification after participating in GAWB’s school-based work experience program in year 10. We’re proud of him and his achievements,” Mr Barlow said.
“Five years of hard work, hands-on skills development and learning from our experienced tradespeople has paid off for Morgen, and we are looking forward to providing the same opportunities to a new apprentice.”
